The Ibanez SRH500F is a unique semi-hollow fretless electric bass guitar engineered to replicate the warm, woody, upright-like acoustic resonance of an acoustic double bass while maintaining the slim, fast-playing ergonomic neck feel of an electric instrument. Built with a deeply chambered semi-hollow mahogany body capped with a solid spruce top and adorned with an elegant f-hole, it generates a rich, organic acoustic bloom even before plugging into an amplification source. The electronics feature a custom AeroSilk Piezo pickup system paired with active tone control and individual string volume trim pots, delivering a remarkably convincing upright bass tone complete with woody mwah and organic fingerboard decay. The 5-piece jatoba/bubinga neck provides bulletproof structural stability, while the bound panga panga fretless fingerboard features fret marker lines for precise intonation navigation. It is an extraordinary specialized instrument for jazz fusion and acoustic ensemble bassists.
